Expedition Part 2

I apologise for forgetting to continue this post.

On the second day of the expedition, we followed another 7 mile route to where the bus was waiting. We walked through many landscapes in the Cheviots and navigated ourselves the right way. With that being said, at some points in the day we got lost or went down the wrong route, but managed to correct our mistakes later.

At around 3:00 we got back to the bus, which then took us home. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I look forward to do it again in Silver. Though we did have some bad times (such as getting lost) our group and I did manage to have lots of fun camping and walking around the Cheviots.

The End of D of E Bronze

Yesterday, I got my physical assessor report from my karate teacher, meaning I have finished my physical section once I take a photo of the report. I am also going to get my skills report soon and I am filling out my expedition details soon.

I have enjoyed D of E Bronze- it had many aspects to it, such as the expedition, which I have found fun. I am most likely going to do Silver as well. Thank you for reading this blog about my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze.

Expedition- Part 1

A week ago today, me and the rest of my group participated in the Silver Practice Expedition. For us, this counted as our qualifying expedition.

We followed a 7 mile route around Wooler and the Cheviots and used the map to navigate through hills, forests and fields. With that being said, I will admit that most of us did get fired along the way. Once we got to the campsite- Highburn House- we all started to enjoy ourselves more.

First, we set up our tent. Then, we played some card games together and then cooked our dinner. Finally, we went to sleep in our tents. Tomorrow, I will upload part 2 of my story that discusses day 2 of the expedition.

(Note one of the members of our group did not want her photo to be posted).

Practice Expedition

Today was the day the Bronze Group and I went on our practice expedition in the hills. It was a very fun and challenging experience and the sights around were very nice. Here is the photo I took of the views:

Karate- Physical Section

For my physical section of the Duke of Edinburgh, I am doing karate- a martial art. I am working towards my brown belt and to become better at the sport overall. In karate, we have to do various activities, such as sparring forms and sparring. Next week, I will upload a video of me doing a sparring form called Sparring Form Water.

I have been doing karate since 2015, and I am a purple-white belt in the martial art. I will continue doing karate for my physical section until the end of June.

-My karate kit I use every lesson.

Volunteering

Today I went volunteering at my local primary school- as I am doing for every Wednesday until the end of April.

We helped tidy up in the reception classes and also cut some tissue paper up for future arts and crafts activities. After that we went to the after school club and played games with the students- such as tag and hide and seek.

I also did karate for my physical section on Tuesday, but forgot to take pictures. I will continue this blog next time I do my physical or volunteering activities.

Introduction

Hello! This is my first post on my Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze blog. This blog will be documenting my activities in the volunteering, physical and skills section- the skills section being this blog.

Currently I am a month away from finishing my volunteering at a primary school and two months away from finishing my physical at a karate class. I hope that this blog will be informative and interesting and will document my experiences.
